Summary
Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission was created by the Province of Nova Scotia in 1950 to construct, operate and maintain bridges across both Halifax Harbour (between Halifax and Dartmouth, Nova Scotia) and the North West Arm (between the Halifax Peninsula and the mainland). HDBC is a self-supporting entity and receives no provincial funding. It has operated the three-lane Angus L. Macdonald Bridge since 1955 and the four-lane A. Murray MacKay Bridge since 1970.
