Summary
Fannie Mae is a Government-Sponsored Enterprise ("GSE") that was chartered by the U.S. Congress in 1938 to provide liquidity to the secondary residential mortgage market. The Company acquires mortgages from lenders and securitizes them into mortgage-backed securities for which they guarantee the principal and interest payments.
