DBRS Releases Commentary on the Latest Trends in the North American Wireless Industry

Telecom/Media/Technology
April 20, 2009

In a DBRS commentary published today, three key trends in the North American wireless industry emerge: the advent of mobile broadband, the explosion of mobile applications and opportunities in fixed-mobile broadband. “Wireless carriers have the potential to continue to innovate and create additional value for their stakeholders, say Chris Diceman, Senior Vice President. “However, the opportunities that these trends provide the North American wireless carriers are not without challenges and risks.”

If properly executed, these trends will continue to drive revenue, EBITDA and free cash flow growth for the North American wireless carriers at a time when subscriber growth rates continue to decline with high levels of penetration rates; pressure on voice average revenue per user (ARPU) remains ongoing as incremental subscribers are added who look for less expensive rate plans and competition remains intense in both the United States and Canada.
