DBRS Releases Updated General Corporate Methodology
Energy, Consumers, IndustrialsDBRS published the updated methodology titled “General Corporate Methodology.”
DBRS has a wide range of corporate methodologies that provide insight into its approach and opinions for rating entities within specific industries; however, despite this wide coverage, there are a limited number of occasions where DBRS encounters unique issuers that do not fit well within any published methodology and, for a variety of possible reasons, DBRS has chosen not to develop a methodology for the industry of the issuer in question. In these cases, DBRS provides this “General Corporate Methodology” as a summary of the rating approach that it uses for issuers specifically noted in this methodology’s appendices.
This update supersedes the version that was previously updated and published in May 2017. While certain details have been clarified in this update, including the addition of definitions for financial metrics used in the analysis related to various issuers covered under this methodology, changes overall are not substantive and DBRS has determined that no ratings have changed as a result of this update.
