Morningstar DBRS Publishes Updated Methodology for Rating Insurance Companies and Insurance Organizations

Morningstar DBRS published an updated version of its "Global Methodology for Rating Insurance Companies and Insurance Organizations" (the Insurance Methodology).

Morningstar DBRS has conducted a periodic review of the Insurance Methodology. This update supersedes the previous version published on April 15, 2024, and is effective as of September 10, 2024. Morningstar DBRS deems the update not to be material and has determined that no ratings are expected to change as a result of this update.

The updates to the Insurance Methodology include clarifications of the considerations for the assessment of market position, for the notching of holding company credit ratings and for rating insurance subsidiaries of banking organizations.
