Morningstar DBRS Publishes Final Global Methodology for Rating Sports Franchises, Leagues, and Stadium and Sports Media Rights Financings

Morningstar DBRS finalized its Global Methodology for Rating Sports Franchises, Leagues, and Stadium and Sports Media Rights Financings (the Methodology).

The Methodology presents the criteria for which credit ratings on sports franchise, stadium, and sports media-related issuers are assigned and/or monitored.

As discussed in our press release dated September 6, 2024, the Methodology supersedes the prior version published on April 15, 2024, and is effective as of November 12, 2024. The comment period closed on October 6, 2024, and no comments were received during the Request for Comment period.

Morningstar DBRS does not expect the updated Methodology to lead to changes to any credit ratings.

All comments received during the request for comment period have been published to the Morningstar DBRS website, except in cases where confidentiality is requested by the respondent.
